“ The pianists of tomorrow (3) by Stéphane Blet
In each issue, talented pianist and composer Stéphane Blet introduces us
to an evolving artist.
Lydia Jardon
“There are pianists who very early on too early on! enter the ranks and only envisage their art in terms of career and contracts, thereby losing that which is most precious in an artist: his or her originality. And then there are the "non-conformists", the invincible, incorrigible independents (thank heaven there are still some around!
) who, ever-attentive to their inner voice, continue their path and from time to time deliver us a new and unexpected vision of works they have chosen and nurtured
It goes without saying that Lydia Jardon belongs to the second and passionate category. This wonderful pianist already has five records to her name (see her discography), without having committed the slightest faux-pas : from Rachmaninov to Granados, from Gershwin to Chopin, Lydia knows brilliantly how to bring to life the favoured composers she honours with her talent, to the greatest delight of record enthusiasts (and even "record-eaters", as is our case). Laureate of the CNSMP, she also obtained the prestigious Licence de concert from the École normale de musique de Paris.
We could evoke at length her career, but what I feel is even more important in these lines is to try to give a concrete idea of the admirable qualities of this musician, more especially through her recordings.
All the same, it is worth noting in passing a fact which is not without significance : Lydia Jardon is artistic director of the Women Musicians Encounters at Ushant, and has just created her own label. And yes! "AR RE-SE" is the first feminine classical music label ! A courageous undertaking!”

“ The rich discography of Lydia Jardon
Rachmaninov, Sonatas number 1 and 2, CD AR RE-SE (AR 2002-4)
Without a doubt one of the most beautiful versions of these works, perfect balance and perfect taste. A virtuoso and sensitive musician, the pianist delivers here a model of the genre.
Rachmaninov, Concerto nr 3, Gershwin, Rhapsody in Blue, CD AR RE-SE (AR 2001-3)
A masterpiece of piano literature, for nearly forty years Rachmaninovs Third Concerto has been dominated, record-wise, by the sublime version by Janis Dorati. It is therefore not the least of Lydia Jardons merits to have succeeded in her convincing performance of such an exposed work.. A truly remarkable lyrical disc.
Chopin, 26 Preludes, CD AR RE-SE (AR 2001-2)
In my opinion, one of the most interesting interpretations of the Preludes since the greatly missed Alfred Cortot.
Debussy, La Mer, CD AR RE-SE (AR 2001-1)
A world first, this transcription of La Mer for piano solo appeals through its profound musicality. (This record obtained a favourite disc mention in our columns a few months ago.)
Granados, Goyescas, CD AR RE-SE (AR 3003-5)
For me, the reference version of this work, without any hesitation. A must.”
